SAY NO TO CLOSING CSD SCHOOLS.

CSD is planning on closing a K-2 school.

The community asks for transparency in this process and full disclosure of reasoning and supporting documents.

Let’s stand together to ensure our voices are heard.

Thank you for taking action!

UPDATES AND ACTIONS TAKEN BY DECATUR PARENT ADVOCATES

10/12 - From the comms team: Concerned CSD parents will attend CSD board meeting on 10/14 and speak to the follow areas:

  • Community impact and disruption

  • Transparency around process and lack of community engagement

  • Financial and data questions

  • Historical trauma with Westchester closure in 2004

  • Why the urgency?

  • The impact of school closures on children: An educators perspective

10/13 - From the legal team: An open records request has been submitted by legal counsel. It would be irresponsible — and a breach of public trust — for this Board to proceed with a vote before those documents are disclosed and the community has had the opportunity to review them.

10/14 - Spreading the word with 95.5 WSB interview with CSD Parents:

10/14 - Connect with media outlets to share information and get the word out. See NEWS COVERAGE section.

10/14 - Community members of Decatur Parent Advocates gathered at the CSD board meeting and shared their thoughts during the comment section.
